From Paint to Projects: Origin Story

From its beginnings as a decorative painting company in 1975, PJ Projects has evolved into a trusted specialist in structural steel, corrosion protection, and plant refurbishment. This timeline highlights the key milestones that shaped our company.

1975

Established as PJ Painters

PJ Painters began primarily as a decorative painting company. The growing need for corrosion protection maintenance in Richards Bay became evident, leading the company to shift its focus to specialised corrosion protection services.

Awarded Corrosion Protection Contracts

In 1989, PJ Painters was awarded the corrosion protection maintenance contract at Bayside Aluminium, and in 1994, a similar contract at Richards Bay Minerals.

1989 - 1994

2001

New Ownership

In 2001, the company was sold, and the new owners expanded the company profile to include structural refurbishment as an extension of corrosion protection maintenance.

New Name, Expanded Service Offering

This led to the company being renamed PJ Projects, reflecting its new role as a “one-stop shop” for plant and building maintenance and refurbishment.

PJ Projects has been awarded an MBA 5-Star Grading in Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment.
